The Enchantment of Cartagena
Cartagena de Indias – founded in 1533 – was consolidated since its origins as one of the main ports of the Spanish crown because of its strategic geographical location. That was the reason why the city rapidly became into the target of multiple attacks from pirates and corsairs.
Its forts and walls are the evidence of what the city was like, a remembrance that nowadays display a particular magic that has inspired great writers like our Nobel Gabriel García Márquez, and artists from all over the world who are dazzled when they walk down its streets.
